Alijah Cromartie spent the final months of his senior year in high school battling COVID-19. He spent three weeks on a ventilator before being transferred to the DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan to regain his strength and mobility.

On the day he was finally discharged from the hospital, his rehab team gave him the graduation ceremony on which he missed out.

The hospital staff cheered as Alijah smiled and tossed his graduation cap into the air, celebrating the new chapter of life he now begins.
