In late June, the Lauderdale Yacht Club Sailing Foundation honored their local heroes by doing what they do best. In a floating parade, the club adorned their sailboats with the names of local organizations and hospitals, including Florida Medical Center, and sailed down the New River in a tribute to those who continue to devote their lives to helping the community fight COVID-19.
In an interview with Lifestyle Media Group, Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis said it best:
“Today we are appreciating not only the beauty of our community but also the people in our community who have given their souls and their hearts and their efforts to help save others. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize our first responders who came to the call of those who were affected by this virus. It takes a whole community to beat this. We are so proud of those who were a part of this effort and we thank them all.”
