Delray Medical Center is First Hospital in Nation to Achieve Surgical Review Corporation's Center of Excellence Accreditation in Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy

Florida’s Delray Medical Center, part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is the first hospital in the country to earn Center of Excellence in Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy accreditation from Surgical Review Corporation (SRC).
This accreditation recognizes Delray Medical Center’s commitment and high standard of quality patient care and safety. Status as an accredited Center of Excellence in Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopies signifies the facility has met nationally and internationally recognized standards.
“With lung cancer the leading cause of cancer death around the world, we have to give our team the best tools to help the patient fight so they can not only beat lung cancer, but return to their life before their diagnosis,” said the hospital’s CEO, Heather Haverciak. “Through using robotics during a bronchoscopy, we are at the cutting edge of lung cancer care. It’s not a ‘wait and see’ approach with lung cancer, as it has been for years. We attack it. We are finding cancer today that could have otherwise gone undiagnosed and untreated, giving our patients the best chance at a great outcome.”
Healthcare facilities and surgeons seeking an SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment. Inspectors educate staff in the accredited departments on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
“We’re proud to recognize Delray Medical Center for its commitment to advancing and providing quality care for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of SRC. “This accreditation signals that this facility is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”
