Providence Children’s Hospital and Spirit Halloween Unveil New Pediatric Play Areas

Providence Children’s Hospital in El Paso – in collaboration with Spirit Halloween and the Spirit of Children Program – recently unveiled two new play areas in the pediatric unit.

“We are thrilled to help unveil these new play areas – The Scenic Sanctuary and The Little Explorers Retreat – to provide kids an interactive and calm place to be during their hospital stay,” said Kim Scott, District Manager and Franchise Owner for Spirit Halloween. “It was extra special to us to unveil these spaces and also present the Auxiliary at Providence Children's Hospital with more than $200,000 to continue these efforts.”

Since 2007, Spirit of Children has raised more than $145 million for child life departments at more than 160 partner hospitals in the U.S. and Canada. Funds provide hospitals with more resources to expand child life services and programs, with the goal of making hospitals a less scary place for children during their hospital stay. Each year, Spirit Halloween, through the Spirit of Children program, raises funds in its stores with 100 percent of the donations going directly to the Child Life program at Providence Children’s Hospital.

“This is a phenomenal gift Spirit Halloween has given to our patients and their families. These two new pediatric play spaces will have a very meaningful impact on their recovery and healing,” said Victoria Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer for Providence Children’s Hospital. “Spirit Halloween’s partnership and continued commitment to make a difference in the El Paso community is a tremendous gift. These dollars will continue to work to improve the lives of our patients and help them along their healing journey.”
