Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Is First Hospital in Southeastern U.S. to Utilize SavvyWire® Technology in TMVR Procedure
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Florida is the first hospital in the Southeastern U.S. to successfully implement the SavvyWire® guidewire technology in transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) valve-in-valve procedures.
The SavvyWire® guidewire is the first-and-only sensor-guided transcatheter valve replacement solution, designed to enhance procedural efficiency and effectiveness. By combining performance, pressure, and pacing capabilities into a single device, SavvyWire® replaces multiple traditional tools, including the TMVR guidewire, access kit, pacing lead, closure device, and transducer. This streamlining of the procedure reduces the number of devices required, minimizes the need for additional venous access, and enhances overall workflow efficiency.
“At Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, we are dedicated to investing in medical innovation to provide our patients with the best possible care,” said Erik Cazares, CEO of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. “The adoption of SavvyWire® is a testament to our commitment to integrating advanced technology into our cardiac care services, further establishing our hospital as one of the leaders in heart care in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast.”
“Using the SavvyWire® technology allows us to improve the efficiency and predictability of TMVR and TAVI procedures, with the goal of better outcomes for our patients,” said structural cardiologist Augusto Villa, M.D., who performed the procedure at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. “This innovation not only simplifies the procedure but also enhances patient safety by reducing complications and the need for multiple device exchanges.”
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is a 199-bed acute care hospital and part of the Palm Beach Health Network, the largest health care network in Palm Beach County. It has served the Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast communities for more than 50 years.
