Saint Vincent Hospital Surgical Team Performs 5000th Robotic Surgery Procedure

Saint Vincent Hospital recently celebrated a major milestone in providing minimally invasive robotic surgery care to the greater Worcester region in Massachusetts. The hospital’s surgical team recently performed its 5,000th procedure using its two da Vinci Xi™ Surgical Systems.

This achievement demonstrates a strong commitment to enhancing surgical care and providing minimally invasive procedures for patients. In 2006, Saint Vincent’s was the second hospital in Massachusetts to get the robotic program.

The da Vinci Xi™ is a technology used for minimally invasive surgical procedures. The system has several features that can provide clinical benefits and efficiency in the operating room, some of which translate to potential patient benefits. Benefits of robotic-assisted surgeries may include significantly less pain, decreased blood loss, less scarring, fewer complications, shorter hospital stays and recovery time, faster return to normal daily activities, and better clinical outcomes.

The da Vinci Xi™ can be used for a multitude of procedures, including, but not limited to, robotic cystectomy, colectomy, Hiatal hernia repair, acid reflux, hysterectomy, oophorectomy, robotic prostatectomy, bariatric surgery and ovarian cyst surgery.
