The Hospitals of Providence East Campus in El Paso, Texas, has been designated as an Advanced Level III Trauma Center by the Texas Department of State Health Services. This designation was awarded after East Campus showcased its commitment to accept a higher acuity of trauma patients, properly intervene and implement care.
“We are excited to have achieved this honor,” said Alex Olsen, M.D., Trauma Medical Director for The Hospitals of Providence East Campus. “This has been a multi-year journey and a true collaboration among physicians and staff, as well as our dedicated Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers to achieve this accomplishment.”
A Major Level III Trauma Center brings together a number of resources that benefit trauma patients, including 24/7 immediate coverage by emergency medicine physicians and the prompt availability of general surgeons and anesthesiologists. East Campus is now able to provide a higher level of trauma care in an underserved area of El Paso.
“We are proud to be advancing the care we provide our patients in East El Paso,” said Monica Vargas-Mahar, CEO for The Hospitals of Providence East Campus. “Our goal is to provide our patients the high-quality care they deserve close to home. This designation is a true reflection of the dedication that each team member shows every day to provide our patients and their families with the best care.”
