Tenet recently sponsored the National Association of Latino Executive Officials (NALEO) National Policy Institute’s conference on disaster recovery. The conference was held on September 14-15 in Miami, Florida.
Marie Quintana, Tenet’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, spoke at the conference. In addition, Debra Lowrance, Senior Director of Clinical Auditing Compliance, presented at the conference on Tenet’s emergency preparedness response and recovery efforts, which were underway with Hurricane Florence making landfall at the time of the conference.
NALEO is the nation’s leading non-profit, non-partisan organization that facilitates the full participation of Latinos in the American political process, from citizenship to public service. The conference aimed to provide Latino policymakers with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and understanding of different levels of planning and preparedness in an effort to help communities prepare for, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from various types of disasters and emergencies.
Quintana said, “Disaster preparedness, response and recovery is something we think about every day. We prepare for all potential eventualities, as safeguarding our communities and our people is our responsibility and one that we never take for granted. We applaud NALEO for raising awareness of this very important topic.”
Quintana also discussed how Tenet is addressing the needs of the Hispanic communities it serves in new and different ways.
Quintana added, “At Tenet Healthcare, we understand that addressing the needs of our Hispanic communities requires more than just a simple translation. It’s about knowing the families within each community we serve – including the culture and prevalence of chronic illnesses – so that we can deliver the right care, at the right time and in the right place.”
