At Tenet, we honor the heroes who have chosen to donate life and work together to bring awareness on the importance of organ donation registration. Making the decision to be an organ donor may be one of the greatest gifts one can give. It is not only life-changing for the person receiving the organs, the impact of the gift ripples down to their friends and loved ones as well.
In honor of April’s Donate Life Month, Valley Baptist Medical Center–Harlingen and Valley Baptist Medical Center–Brownsville in Texas honored organ donors at the Wall of Heroes dedication ceremony. At the event, photos of recent organ donors were unveiled as families gathered at both campuses to celebrate their loved ones. An organ recipient also shared his story on how his life has changed through the kindness of an organ donor.
Tenet’s Abrazo Community Health Network in Phoenix and Carondelet Health Network in Tucson, Arizona, celebrated with a flag-raising ceremony to bring awareness of the importance of organ donor registration. The Hospitals of Providence in El Paso also raised a Donate Life flag in honor of all organ donors and celebrated them with a ‘celebration of life’ cake.
Colleagues at Doctors Medical Center of Modesto in Modesto, California, will honor 24 incredible moms who gave the gift of life through organ donation in honor of Mother’s Day next month. The celebration will include the unveiling of the wall of remembrance, featuring the 24 courageous moms. In addition, colleagues take this time to explain the importance of organ donation and encourage attendees to sign up to become a donor.
