Detroit Medical Center (DMC) officials announced the start of construction of the DMC Sports Medicine Institute on Woodward Avenue in Midtown Detroit.
Olympia Development is constructing a 127,000 square foot, five-story facility at 2715 Woodward, between the Little Caesars Arena and the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University. That building will house the DMC Sports Medicine Institute as well as a large, statewide law firm and 17,000 square feet of street-level retail. The entire project is expected to be completed in 18 months.
The Sports Medicine Institute will be home to DMC’s specialized clinical and rehabilitation teams and will serve professional, collegiate and recreational athletes. When completed, the DMC SMI will meet the needs of athletes of all ages who are seeking advanced performance assessment, injury prevention and other specialized orthopedic therapies. It will also have imaging services, including a mobile MRI, a physician clinic, physical therapy, advanced research capability and more.
