Brookwood Baptist Medical Center recently unveiled its new multi-million dollar Atrial Fibrillation Center, which is used in the treatment of heart arrhythmias, a condition that affects at least 2.7 million Americans. The new electrophysiology lab was specifically designed to treat this growing problem.
“Everything in this room is designed so that we can deliver the most efficient, high quality care where the patient is at the center of our focus,” stated Macy Smith, M.D., electrophysiologist. “Literally, the placement of even the plugs you see on the floor, we had discussions over.”
Construction of three new state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs is also underway to establish Brookwood as a cardiovascular program of excellence. The new labs will complement the hospital’s existing hybrid OR, which opened in 2018, and is in proximity to the Main OR, Emergency Room and Radiology for highest efficiency and throughput.
