Abrazo Community Health Network will construct a new micro-hospital in Surprise, Arizona, expected to open in spring 2020. A similar facility, Abrazo Mesa Hospital, is opening this summer in Mesa, Arizona.
The hospitals will be new, small-scale medical facilities created with an emphasis on convenience and efficiency, according to Abrazo Community Health Network CEO Frank Molinaro.
Abrazo Surprise Hospital will focus on providing emergency care and less complex medical procedures. It will include a 13-bed emergency department, an operating room and eight inpatient rooms, along with additional services in a 32,500 square foot building. It will be the city’s first hospital.
The hospital’s emergency department will be open around the clock and staffed by board-certified emergency physicians. It will also offer minor surgery, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, pharmacy and other services.
“The Abrazo micro-hospital in Surprise, Arizona, is designed as a patient-friendly environment in an efficient, convenient location," said Jeff Patterson, CEO of Abrazo Arrowhead Campus. "It will offer close integration with our other facilities including the Arrowhead Campus for patients who may require more complex care. Our goal is to provide multiple access points for care.”
The micro-hospital is expected to create approximately 50 full-time equivalent clinical and support staff jobs.
“We’re growing to meet community healthcare needs across the greater Phoenix area,” added Molinaro. “We want to be good neighbors and bring our services into the City of Surprise.”
