According to Running USA, more than 500,000 people run in and finish marathons held across the U.S. each year. Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Orthopedics and Sports Medicine has teamed up with a number of marathon events to provide education to runners while they train and provide on-site medical attention should any health concerns arise during a race.

At Tenet, we honor the heroes who have chosen to donate life and work together to bring awareness on the importance of organ donation registration. Making the decision to be an organ donor may be one of the greatest gifts one can give. It is not only life-changing for the person receiving the organs, the impact of the gift ripples down to their friends and loved ones as well.

Tenet hospitals across the country are making moves by staying active and educating the public on healthy living in recognition of April’s National Move More Month, a designation by the American Heart Association (AHA) that encourages people to increase their physical activity for improved health. Colleagues are excited to participate, as physical activity is important to prevent heart disease and stroke, the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers.

Every second counts when someone is suffering from uncontrolled bleeding. According to BleedControl.org, victims can die within five to 10 minutes. In an effort to educate the public about proper bleeding control techniques in emergencies, Tenet colleagues are participating in the “Stop the Bleed” campaign, which launched in 2015 by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
