Extending its promise to provide neighborhood emergency care close to home, the Baptist Health System will build a new acute-care facility to bring emergency services to patients in the Rigsby neighborhood on the east side of San Antonio. The nearly 11,000-square-foot Emergency Department is scheduled to open in summer 2025 at 2102 Semlinger Road, bringing exceptional care to people who work and live nearby.

This initiative ensures that patients receive timely, high-quality care in their neighborhoods while facilitating a smooth transition to more specialized services, when needed."

Baptist Neighborhood Hospital-Rigsby will have 10 examination rooms and one triage room, while providing a wide range of emergency services. It will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The facility will be staffed by emergency medicine physicians, experienced nurses and clinical specialists dedicated to providing the same level of compassionate, personalized care that have made Baptist Health System one of the nation’s leading healthcare systems.

Small-format medical facilities like the one planned for Rigsby provide similar service lines as traditional hospitals, but with a smaller footprint.
