Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Marie Quintana

Executive Vice President of Communications & Chief Marketing Officer

Hispanic Heritage Month, which began earlier this month, has always had special meaning to me. I was born in Cuba and my family immigrated many years later to the United States. The vibrant Cuban spirit that celebrates music, family and art – and of course food – was a hallmark of my upbringing. The smell of my mom’s pierna asada con mojito during the holidays remains something I treasure every year.

Since I arrived at Tenet in 2018, I have been inspired by the clear commitment of all caregivers and staff to address the needs of our Hispanic communities. You have shown understanding and empathy, beyond a simple translation, and demonstrated appreciation of different cultures and traditions in getting to know each of the families we serve. For those who suffer from chronic illnesses that are so prevalent in our Hispanic communities, you continue to foster a nurturing and healing environment to better serve their diverse healthcare needs.

During Hispanic Heritage Month and always, I hope you will join me in celebrating the culture, achievements and contributions of Hispanics and Latinos in the United States. I also want to recognize those in our Tenet family who work so hard to improve the overall health of our communities. Their courage and bravery, particularly during this pandemic, is inspiring.

Muchas gracias y Cuídense mucho
