Susan Herndon, OR Circulator at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center The Woodlands- Pinecroft (Pinecroft), has earned heroic admiration from others many times.
Maggie Riviera, Administrator at the surgery center, regards Susan as a highly-engaged team member in Pinecroft’s operating rooms. Susan’s attention to detail supports excellent patient outcomes, as evident during an effective Time Out when Susan identified a laterality discrepancy prior to the commencement of an operation at the facility in October. In addition, Susan exudes a high-degree of concern and compassion for others. Susan was witness to a devastating car accident in July that ultimately took the lives of two children. At the scene of the crash, Susan was roadside providing medical aid to one of the children.
Nick Crafts, Regional Vice President for Pinecroft, thought highly enough of Susan to email superiors, sharing, “When I think of the best traits of a nurse – inner toughness, compassion, a high-degree of concern for others, attention to detail, selflessness…this lady is top of my list.”
Amid these heroic manifestations, Susan inwardly battled breast cancer. While battling and now in remission, Susan continues to be the nurse her patients deserve.
