Desert Regional Medical Center team members lined the sidewalk outside the hospital as the city’s police and fire departments drove through, waving and showing appreciation for our healthcare workers. Equally as loud, were the cheers coming from the healthcare workers showing gratitude for the city’s first responders, many with hand-made “thank you” signs. The event was planned by Fire Captain Nathan Gunkel as a way for the city’s first responders to applaud healthcare workers.

Nurse Stan Hall has worked in the hospital’s emergency department for 25 years and helped organize the tribute with Gunkel. “It warms my heart…I can’t express in words, adequately, what it means to me. It’s just incredible,” Hall told KESQ Channel 3 in an interview that day.
