Baptist Health System Team Members
San Antonio and El Paso, TX
As El Paso continues to battle a devastating surge of COVID-19, team members from the Baptist Health System (BHS) family of hospitals joined forces to care for communities in and around El Paso.
Caregivers from various BHS hospitals traveled from San Antonio to El Paso to help care for patients at different campuses of The Hospitals of Providence (THOP). Quickly responding to the needs, these healthcare heroes were graciously welcomed by incredible staff members working across the network.
In a November 2020 letter shared with BHS employees and physicians, Matt Stone, Group CEO of Baptist Health System, expressed gratitude for this rallying of support and how the team is truly making a difference. In the letter, he shared heartfelt thanks from Monica C. Vargas-Mahar, CEO of The Hospitals of Providence East Campus.
She noted: "We are so fortunate to have fellow Tenet family team members here with us as we respond to the surge in COVID-19 cases. I personally got to meet four of our adopted Team East team members and was so happy to hear that they’ve felt completely welcomed by our team (that’s Team East style) and impressed with how we’ve adapted to this new care environment…We are so blessed to have family in Texas… you are now officially adopted as part of the Team East family. You’ve sent us your brightest stars and they are shining bright!”
