Christen Mayer | Director Infection Prevention
Tenet Healthcare HQ
Dallas, Texas
Christen Mayer has been integral to the coordination of our COVID-19 response effort across all facilities. Working as a critical member of the Incident Command Center team, she provides expertise in infection prevention, decontamination, employee health, and the selection of safe personal protective equipment. Many know her from their urgent calls, and she always answers the phone, day or night.
Christen has a unique background in infection prevention, having come to Tenet a year ago from Tulane University Medical Center. She started her career as a microbiology technologist in hospital laboratories (hence her self-described nickname as “Bug Girl”), and then earned a Master’s degree in Public Health and a Doctorate in Epidemiology. Her perspective is broad, having worked for a city health department, hospitals, and in her spare time is advising schools on how to apply infection prevention principles to teenagers and open safely.
Throughout her time in this role as Director of Infection Prevention, Christen has demonstrated the utmost dedication and professionalism and has been particularly instrumental in our COVID response along each step of the pandemic.
