As a pediatrician, Angelo Giardino, M.D., treats young patients at Tenet’s St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. As a volunteer with the nonprofit program “Pediatric Domestic Violence Training Throughout Philadelphia,” he’s also a tireless advocate for system reform to prevent child abuse.
Dr. Giardino and other volunteers offer training at health clinics throughout Philadelphia to help caregivers identify child abuse within families affected by domestic violence. Each year, he takes advantage of the Foundation’s Volunteer Involvement Program to give $500 to Pediatric Domestic Violence group. “For a small nonprofit organization, this grant is a great deal of money,” he said. “The Foundation really helps make a difference in our community.”
