Three young women have the Foundation to thank for helping to fund their entire college careers. Shante Aris-Williams, Jennifer Do, and Mary Lee are among 173 students receiving college scholarships totaling $302,000 in the Foundation’s 2003 Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship Program. The three have been named recipients for all four years that the Foundation has run the program.
Lee is a biochemistry/animal science major at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. “My husband Phillip passed away unexpectedly when Mary was in the first grade,” said her mother, Rozena Lee, a materiel management specialist at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, N.C. “Tenet has given me stable employment as a single parent and the Foundation is helping Mary complete her college education. I can’t thank the company and the Foundation enough.”
In five years, the Foundation has awarded 855 scholarships totaling over $1.2 million to college-bound children of Tenet employees.
