Maria Martineau Plankinton Director, Tenet Healthcare Foundation
Maria Martineau Plankinton serves as director of the Tenet Healthcare Foundation. Plankinton is responsible for conducting the company’s philanthropic grant making on behalf of both the corporation and our hospitals. Additionally, she oversees a variety of corporate citizenship initiatives including the Employee Matching Gift Program, Volunteer Involvement Program, and scholarship programs. She also coordinates the day to day operation of the Tenet Disaster Relief Fund. She joined Tenet in May of 2005 from Brierley & Partners, a Dallas-based international marketing firm, where she served as director of corporate communications. Prior to that, she spent 10 years with FINA, Inc., where she was director of the company’s charitable foundation, among other management roles. Plankinton is on the board of directors for the Dallas Zoological Society and The Dallas Assembly, and she is an active member of Crystal Charity Ball and SMU’s 21st Century Council. Additionally, she has served in various leadership roles with numerous nonprofit organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Dallas Theater Center, Genesis Women’s Shelter, the Junior League of Dallas and the Visiting Nurses Association.
A native Texan, Plankinton holds a bachelor of arts degree from Duke University in Durham, N.C. and a master’s degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
