Foundation Program


Helping the communities where we live and work

Tenet Healthcare Foundation administers various programs that provide financial assistance to eligible not-for-profit organizations in the communities served by Tenet. The Foundation also administers programs designed to promote grant-giving and volunteerism among Tenet employees.

Philanthrophic Grantmaking
Working with an annual allocation, each of our facilities and regional markets collaborate with the Foundation to provide grant support to charitable organizations in their communities that best meet Foundation guidelines.

By December 2004, the Foundation (since its inception in June 1998), gave more than 8,700 grants totaling over $50 million to charitable organizations.  These donations range from funding a faculty mentor program to keep at-risk nursing students in college to providing a sonogram machine for pregnant women at an indigent clinic.

Matching Gift Program
Through the Matching Gift Program, the Foundation matches on a dollar-for-dollar basis gifts made by eligible Tenet employees to qualified local, regional and national charitable organizations. The Foundation will match up to $10,000 per employee per year.

Volunteer Involvement Program
The Volunteer Involvement Program provides financial assistance to charitable organizations at which Tenet employees volunteer their time and talent. The Foundation will give $500 per employee to one charitable organization per year.

Scholarship Program
The Children of Employees Scholarship Program assists children of Tenet employees who continue their education in college or vocational school.  Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at any accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The Foundation also funds scholarships with the National Merit and Achievement Program.  Open to children of Tenet employees, these grants honor exceptional students and encourage academic excellence.

Disaster Relief Program
The Tenet Disaster Relief Program offers aid to Tenet employees and their dependents who suffer loss as a result of widespread natural disasters.  On occassion, non-medical emergency assistance due to major, unforseeable, life-altering circumstances will be considered.  The fund provides financial assistance for shelter, medical attention, clothing and other relief.
