DALLAS – March 26, 2008 – Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) today announced the promotion of Karolee M. Sowle, FACHE, as chief executive officer of Tenet’s Desert Regional Medical Center, a 367-bed acute care regional medical center located in Palm Springs, Calif. Sowle is an accomplished executive with more than 30 years of health care experience, including more than a decade working at Desert Regional Medical Center. She will report to Jeffrey Flocken, senior vice president of operations for Tenet’s California region.
“I am pleased to announce Karolee’s promotion to this leadership position,” Flocken said. “Her extensive experience in management roles will help Desert Regional continue to provide quality care to patients throughout the Palm Springs area.”
Sowle has been serving as interim chief executive officer at Desert Regional since November 2006. Prior to this role, Sowle was Desert Regional’s chief operating officer for four years and chief nursing officer for six years. In these capacities, Sowle was responsible for overseeing operations and hospital quality management.
Sowle holds a bachelor’s in nursing from Viterbo University, and a master’s of business administration from the University of Wisconsin, both in La Crosse, Wis., and a master of science degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. She is board certified in healthcare management and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
