Stephen F. Brown
Executive Vice President
Chief Information Officer

Stephen F. Brown, executive vice president and chief information officer of Tenet Healthcare Corporation, is responsible for establishing the strategic direction for Tenet’s information and telecommunication systems.  Brown reports directly to Trevor Fetter, Tenet’s president and chief executive officer.

 

Brown helps Tenet identify high-value opportunities to advance the company’s business interests through technology.  Additionally, he oversees Tenet’s outsourcing relationship with Perot Systems Corporation, which began in 1990.  

 

Brown has served as CIO of Tenet since 1995.  Prior to his position with Tenet, he was CIO of American Medical International, one of Tenet’s predecessor companies.

 

Brown, who has more than 30 years of experience in health care has been active in national information systems activities, including faculty roles in conferences hosted by The Wharton School, Information Week magazine, CEO magazine, The Healthcare Collaboration Group and Sheldon I. Dorenfest and Associates Consulting.  Brown received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama.

 

Currently, he is a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), and serves as an Advisory Board member for both the Medisend International Charity and Southern Methodist University’s Engineering Management Information & Security Distinguished Advisory Council.  Brown was a contributing author to the 1992 book, “Financial Information Systems Manual.”
