The Vice President and Regional Chief Financial Officer, Florida Region, reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations for Tenet Florida Region and indirectly to the Senior Vice President of Operations Finance of Tenet Healthcare.

The Vice President and Regional Chief Financial Officer, Florida Region has responsibility for providing leadership and direction to all financial sectors of the 10 hospitals within the Florida Region.  This executive also serves as Vice President Finance Operations and has responsibility for driving transformational change in finance operations for the Florida Region of Tenet Healthcare.  He/she is responsible for driving the development of a sound, comprehensive strategic financial plan that promotes short-term growth and financial stability, as well as ensures the long-term financial viability of the Region.

The Vice President and Regional Chief Financial Officer, Florida Region has responsibility for overseeing the general accounting function for the Florida Region, including the areas of month end close, balance sheet audit, payroll, accounts payable, business economics and general accounting.  This executive is also responsible for the Outpatient Services Division on a National basis.  He/she supports the financial aspect of the development of outpatient imaging centers, capital expenditures, etc.  The Vice President and Regional Chief Financial Officer, Florida Region works closely with the Senior Vice President, Finance Operations and Hospital CFOs to ensure Florida Region hospitals’ financial position and earnings are correctly stated, and that proper controls are in place for collecting, organizing and recording of financial data.  He/she has responsibility for conducting the semi-annual balance sheet reviews for the Florida Region, as well as managing Florida Region capital budget funding.

As such, the Vice President and Regional Chief Financial Officer, Florida Region has responsibility for the following:

  • Analyzing daily operating results for the Florida Region to ensure that revenues, expenses, and labor are within budgeted objectives.
  • Keeping abreast of government regulatory requirements and the rapidly changing reimbursement environment to develop and implement changes to policies and procedures as needed.
  • Ensuring that the financial operations of Florida Region hospitals are carried out in an ethical, responsible manner.
  • Establishing and monitoring the annual operating budget for Florida Region facilities according to sound budgeting principles and corporate guidelines.
  • Evaluating Florida Region hospitals’ overall financial position and preparing periodic financial and operating reports.
  • Assist in preparing financial forecasts and monitoring performance versus budget for Florida Region.
  • Coordinating with other senior members of the leadership team in the development of major strategic and financial plans, including capital expenditure programs for Florida Region.
  • Reviewing, evaluating and ensuring the effectiveness of all financial and accounting systems in Florida Region hospitals.  Directing the development and implementation of new systems, policies and procedures as required.
  • Assisting in the development of new business for the Florida Region by analyzing the feasibility of new programs, including managed care contracts, and advising senior management of the financial prospects.

Other responsibilities include

The Vice President and Regional Chief Financial Officer, Florida Region is responsible for ensuring the implementation of tactical elements of the hospitals’ financial operations initiatives and the development of regional business strategy.  He/she provides ultimate financial decision making and overall financial integrity of the Florida Region’s financial activities including accounting, treasury and banking relations, financial systems and control, as well as financial analysis, budgeting and reporting.

The Vice President and Regional Chief Financial Officer, Florida Region is charged with keeping abreast of the latest updates in regional accounting standards; leading the strategic financial operations planning process; and providing guidance and direction to the financial management team at each facility relative to tax planning, financial management, cash management, planning and forecasting, taxation and corporate finance.  The Vice President and Regional Chief Financial Officer, Florida Region has overall responsibility for ensuring Hospital CFOs compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures and also ensuring internal controls are effective in both design and operation.


  • At least ten years of progressive financial healthcare or equivalent experience in the areas of general accounting; operations; financial systems; financial statement preparation; review and analysis; multi-discipline management experience; and  ethics.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading, developing and successfully growing the finance function in a high-growth environment. 
  • A verifiable track record in hospital finance, defining the issues and making the decisions to generate improved financial performance.
  • Participation, as well as supervisory experience, in negotiating managed care contracts.
  • Substantial financial management experience including financial operations, strategic and financial planning, contracts, reimbursement, development of internal processes and procedures for financial accounting and reporting, management accounting, cash management and funding, budgeting and capital financing in a complex environment.
  • A thorough understanding of healthcare trends with the ability to anticipate opportunities.
  • Successful experience as a Chief Financial Officer in a highly competitive market.
