The Market Compliance Officer for Modesto reports directly to the Regional Compliance Director for the Western Region, who reports to the Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Tenet Healthcare Corporation. The Market Compliance Officer has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Market Chief Executive Officer.
Specific Market Compliance Officer Responsibilities Include
The Market Compliance Officer has responsibility for managing the implementation of Tenet’s Ethics and Compliance program for Doctors Hospital of Modesto and all associated provider-based facilities, as well as Doctors Hospital of Manteca located in Manteca, California. The Market Compliance Officer position provides leadership in the market for ethics and compliance matters and may directly supervise additional Compliance Officers located in the market.
Additionally, the Market Compliance Officer chairs the Market Compliance Committee and is responsible for implementing policies, procedures, and practices designed to ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare laws, rules and regulations. The position is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day compliance activities within each hospital in the market.
The Market Compliance Officer’s responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Ø Work collaboratively with market leadership in compliance and ethics program development and implementation.
Ø Advise market leadership on issues concerning compliance and ethics matters including recommending controls designed to ensure compliance.
Ø Establish effective working relationships and build credibility within the market to support a culture of ethics and compliance.
Ø Directly supervise and manage any other Compliance Officers who may be hired in the market.
Ø Serve as or directly supervise the Privacy Officer for the market.
Ø Independently investigate or supervise the investigation of compliance and ethics concerns that are raised through Tenet’s Ethics Action Line or other reporting mechanisms.
Ø Oversee the implementation of Tenet’s education and training program to ensure that all employees, contractors and physicians within the market are knowledgeable of Federal healthcare program requirements and the requirements of Tenet’s Ethics and Compliance program as required to perform their respective roles.
Ø Ensure implementation of Tenet’s Quality, Compliance, and Ethics Program Charter, applicable compliance and ethics policies and procedures, and Tenet’s Standards of Conduct.
Ø Identify potential risk areas and develop auditing, monitoring, and oversight processes related to ensure mitigation.
Ø Oversee the implementation of corrective actions and monitoring in response to identified issues and audits.
Ø Coordinate with Tenet’s legal counsel to facilitate communication between the Compliance and Ethics Department and Law Department on legal compliance matters.
Ø Implement policies and procedures that encourage employees, leadership, contractors, and physicians to report compliance concerns without the fear of retaliation.
Ø Chair the Market Compliance Committee, which oversees the implementation and management of Tenet’s Ethics and Compliance program for the market.
Ø Prepare monthly compliance reports for submission to the Regional Compliance Director and the Chief Compliance Officer.
Ø Report on ethics and compliance matters to the market leadership.
An undergraduate degree is required and a Master’s degree is preferred.
